Roses and Candles

Have you ever stumbled across this phrase ,"Smell the roses and blow out the Candles "

Well here I'm not talking about any fancy anniversary or birthday party . I'm talking about the most

popular way of deep breathing ,"Smell the roses and  blow out the candles ".This is the kind of breathing

exercise which toddlers are made to practice the correct way of breathing . But why toddlers only ? The

time demands that every human being should practice this technique of inhaling and exhaling.

The time has changed and so has the life style . We have embraced the life , where we are running most

of  the time to catch up with our schedules, deadlines and notifications keeping our health at stake .

Our fast paced modern life style has made us shallow breathers . We have forgotten that which each

passing day we are getting older . The vigour and energy that we had in our youth is declining day by

day. We cannot stop ageing , but we can slow down the process of ageing . In a very simple words ,

we cannot stop the clock from ticking but we can move healthily and gracefully we move with time.

There is no "Holy Grail "with amrit (nector )inside which can slow down ageing . It is scientifically

proven that slow breathing itself is an anti ageing ritual.

Before I move any further ask yourself a question , how much time do I give to myself and for how long

am I completely detached to my phone and work ? I know many of you have done or tried to disengage

yourself but failed because keeping away physical devices is not the solution when  your mental tab is

still wide open.

Let me introduce you to the  two terms - unplugging and disconnecting. Unplugging is the physical

action taken by us like putting our phones into silent mode , leaving our work desk , not engaging

ourselves in any unproductive  conversations etc. The other key term is "disconnection ", this term has

key role in our life because it talks about our mental state .We cannot disconnect mentally completely

because we cannot force our mind to get empty and get filled with ideas promoting relaxation at once. To

disconnect mentally  is next to impossible , what we can do is to change the course of action , when mind

is burdened with work ,anxiety , stress  it is at this moment  that we have to disconnect ourselves with

these inflowing waves of  thoughts and have to shift the course of action by allowing our mind to flow into

a different channel. This won't happen in one day , it requires a daily practice to tune  your  mind .

Let me explain to you , do as I am telling you , look for a place where there is  complete seclusion , close

your eyes and imagine you are in a garden filled with roses , the sweet scent of roses filling the

surrounding  . What will you do ? Very obvious you will inhale deep to absorb the

fragrance ,now hold your breath till you register complete stillness .

Now shift your imagination  from a garden to a place where you are celebrating your birthday . Two

pounds of cake with 16 candles on it . Make a birthday wish and then gently blow out the candles and

relax. Do you realise that taking one good breath at a time can completely change our life .Do this for a

couple of minutes, and you will feel that your mind is declutter.

Where Roses stand for beauty, life , nature , sweet fragrance and Candles for worries ,stress ,deadlines,

notifications and never met schedules . We do not need any costly gadgets nor expensive remedy , peace

is just a breath away .Symbolically, it is the cycle of taking in life’s beauty and releasing life’s burdens

—the eternal rhythm of receiving and letting go.

P.S. Once you have  mastered  this technique, it hardly matters who you are, where you are, or what you

do—you can find peace anywhere. And a relaxed mind is what we all truly need.
